Kathleen Thyberg

Kathleen Thyberg is a music teacher, philanthropist, and developer of award-winning music educational products. She has her BA in Music at Scripps College and a Masters in Music and Music Education from Columbia University. Kathleen has taught music for 35 years. While teaching, she developed a learning methodology for piano students and launched Pianomouse Productions, which has produced award winning music education products for children since 2000. Pianomouse products have been featured in national parenting magazines, including Parents, Family Life and Creative Child, and recently won three awards: Creative Child's "2014 Kids Product of the Year", Kids Musical Learning System category; and Academics’ Choice Awards “2014 Smart Book Award”, in recognition of Mind-Building Excellence. The independent Academics’ Choice Awards program and its seal of excellence are recognized worldwide by consumers and educational institutions as a mark of effective learning tools that stimulate the mind, and provide potential for the student to fully develop higher order thinking skills. Pianomouse was awarded the distinct honor of being a Finalist for the prestigious 2015 Revere Award. The REVERE Awards identify and honor high quality resources that educate learners of all ages, in all media, and in all educational environments, both in and beyond the classroom. The program supports the PreK-12 Learning Group’s mission of advocating for quality content in teaching and learning.
